What is Meditation?
Meditation is any method that gently quietens our wandering minds. Ultimately it allows us to see and experience reality as it really is and to understand that we are connected to everyone and everything around us.
Some meditation methods originated from religious and spiritual practices going back thousands of years, for example, Buddhism, Daoism and Yoga. Others like Transcendental meditation have been developed in more modern times.
How Does Meditation Work?
Some methods of meditation take the form of concentration exercises and others analyse the mind. Through regular practice the mind becomes more alert and focused.
Through the mind-body connection, regular meditation also affects our bodies and can help to change the quality of our lives and the way we view our bodies for the better.
